Today's environmental problems are not temporary problems of one world. Based on the realization that they possess spatial ramifications on a global scale and in a time sense will have an effect even on future generations, the Earth Summit was convened in 1992 at Rio de Janeiro and the Rio Declaration was adopted. After that, and based on such realization, governments and enterprises, as well as citizens, are continuing their efforts in order to preserve the earth's environment.

If one considers that the effect that an enterprise's activities have on the environment is enormous, just as are those of governments，in order to make it possible to have potentially continuous development planning for both a green earth and economic activity, we believe that it is an enterprise's responsibility as a global citizen living in the 21st Century to conduct its activities in order to reduce the environmental burden aiming at a realization of a cyclical economic society.
Moreover, it can be said that it is the duty of each and every one of us to protect the earth's environment that cannot be changed and pass it along to our children and grandchildren.

At the same time that this Company was established, in October, 2001, an environment management systeｍ based on ISO 14001 was established at the Company's Tokyo head office　and in each domestic branch office, and we are presently carrying out an expansion of certification vis-a-vis our affiliated companies. Based on this system, by means of carrying out　activities in order to reduce the burden on the environment, we intend to contribute in a small way to the preservation of the earth's environment.

This Company is engaged in the sale of steel products and the operation of steel related affiliated companies. In the midst of such activity, together with promoting the handling of products that take into account the environment, when considering investments, etc. in businesses, we conduct our study and response from the viewpoint of consideration of the environment.
